CURRICULUM

IT’S TIME TO ENCOUNTER SOMETHING NEW

SiNaCa Studios offers a comprehensive curriculum across four core disciplines—Glass Blowing, Kiln Forming, Borosilicate Flame working, and Bead Making—designed to guide students from foundational techniques to advanced artistic expression.

Each discipline follows a structured learning path built around:

  • Survey Classes: Multi-week courses that introduce essential tools, materials, and processes
  • Level-Based Workshops: Focused sessions that reinforce and expand on skills introduced in each survey
  • Progression Requirements: Students complete a set number of workshops before advancing to the next level

Whether you’re shaping molten glass in the hot shop, layering color in the kiln, or working at the torch with rods and tubes, our fundamentals-based curriculum is designed to build confidence, creativity, and technical fluency.

🏆 Named the #2 trade school in the 2025 DFW Favorites, SiNaCa Studios is proud to offer high-quality glass arts education in a supportive, inclusive environment.

More at SiNaCa:

GLASS BLOWING | Hot shop

GET READY TO BE BLOWN AWAY

Glass blowing is an incredibly satisfying art form perfect for creating and expressing yourself as an individual. Students learn to move and manipulate glass in the hot shop with fun projects you’ll be proud to show off. We offer a variety of exciting classes to help you build a foundation and reach your full potential in glass.

 KILN FORMING

FUSING THE LOVE OF GLASS AND FIRE

In our kiln forming studio, artists work with glass in its solid state to create and design objects that will be fused together in an electric kiln. By layering sheets of glass, glass frits, stringers, and powders together, you can create practical and beautiful pieces you will be proud to show off.

FLAME WORKING

GET FIRED UP FOR FLAME WORKING

In the flame working studio, we use a gas-fueled torch and gravity to melt and shape colored glass rods and tubes. With just a torch and a few tools, artists can create everything from elegant beads to complex sculptural and blown work. We can help you light the fire of creativity.

COLD WORKING

CHILL OUT WITH COLD WORKING

Cold working is the process of altering glass without using heat. Methods include grinding, carving, engraving, polishing, sandblasting, and other techniques and are used by glass artists to put the finishing touch on their work. In our classes, we teach students how to use the basic equipment to make their own glass art stone-cold marvelous.

VISITING ARTISTS

WITNESS EXTRAORDINARY GLASS ARTISTS IN THEIR ELEMENT

We regularly host local and national glass artists in our studios, inviting the community to view demonstrations of their work and talent. Whenever possible, we also offer workshops with our visiting artists for qualified students and other established artists.

Curriculum FAQ

Q: What’s the difference between a Survey Class and a Workshop?

A: Survey Classes are four-week courses that introduce foundational techniques and studio practices. Workshops are shorter, focused sessions that reinforce and expand on those skills.

Q: Do I need experience to take a Survey I class?
A: Not at all! Survey I classes in each discipline are designed for complete beginners.

Q: How do I move to the next level?
A: After completing a Survey class, you’ll need to take a set number of workshops at that level—3 for Kiln Forming, 2 for Glass Blowing—before advancing to the next Survey.

Q: What’s included in the class fee?
A: All tools and basic supplies are included. Survey classes include a materials credit; workshops require purchasing your own glass, available in the SiNaCa Store.

Q: Can I take workshops without a Survey class?
A: Only if you’ve already completed the prerequisite Survey class or have equivalent experience. If you’re unsure, reach out—we’re happy to help place you.
