Jean fernandes

Relationships between causal action and reactive phenomena, fluidity and rigidity, time and movement, pattern and structure, guide my explorations which utilize the properties of materials I work with. I often investigate these ideas through repetition, confinement, destruction, symmetry, and geometry, which I find to be intrinsically symbolic of the way in which we operate within our socially constructed systems. Metaphorical processes help me convey these ideas through the remnants left behind as a result of a particular interaction between myself and the material.
