Created during SiNaCa Studios’ April 2025 Open Studios, Solar Portal is a radiant example of Blake Boles’ evolving mastery in glass. The circular design pulses with vibrant yellow hues and bold black waves. It’s a piece that feels both cosmic and grounded—like sunlight refracted through time. The pattern creates a dynamic sense of movement and invites reflection and depth. The piece balances bold color with optical intrigue, offering a portal-like experience that shifts with light and perspective.

Blake Boles began his glass journey at the University of Texas at Arlington, earning a BFA with a concentration in Glass in 2017. After interning at Carlyn Ray Designs in Dallas, he joined the team at SiNaCa Studios, where he continues to grow as both an artist and educator. Working alongside renowned artists such as Rob Stern, Aaron Tate, and Mark Leputa has inspired Blake to push the boundaries of his craft. His work is influenced by music, design, functionality, and sustainability, with a focus on using optics, form, and space to draw viewers in while honoring the inherent beauty of glass.
