Created during a live demonstration during Gallery Night at SiNaCa Studios in September 2024, Classic Impression #24 is part of Clifton Crofford’s ongoing exploration of functional and sculptural vessel forms. This piece features a layered color application using small fragments of opaque and transparent glass—known as frit—to create depth and an impressionistic effect. A thin wrap of colored glass is often included between layers to emulate branches and add contrast across the fields of color.
The result is a marbled blend of blues, greens, and purples that captures and reflects light, inviting viewers to pause and engage with its quiet complexity. The elongated form and flared top add elegance and balance to the piece, making it both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
Clifton Crofford’s passion for glass began at UT Arlington, where he explored design through architecture, theater, and art. After helping develop a new 3D art facility, he co-founded a glassblowing studio in Dallas/Fort Worth. In 2007, Clifton and fellow alumni established SiNaCa Studios, which opened to the public in 2010. His work blends ancient and modern symbols, exploring themes of balance, growth, and transformation. Through glass, Clifton invites viewers to pause, reflect, and connect—bridging the fast pace of modern life with the timeless language of art.
